Alternate Route | Camp To Portland

From the South

Take I.95 North to Maine; join with I 295 North of Portland toward Augusta and Gardiner.

Take 2nd Gardiner Exit #51 (old exit 28) bearing right onto Rt.126. Go over river on small bridge, bearing left and heading into Gardiner. At first set of lights take a left. (The A1 diner will be on your right. Pass McDonalds on your left.) Go right over larger Pearl Harbor Memorial bridge crossing the Kennebec River and take a right at lights. Go about 100 yards and take left onto Rt.226.

Follow Rt.226 to cross roads at Sonny’s Auto Sales (large blue metal garage/structure
diagonally to your right.) Take right onto Windsor Road.* 2.8 miles Follow Windsor Road to end which intersects at Rt. 17. 3.1 miles Turn right on Rt.17. You will see a “Crystal Falls” sign on your left as you turn. Following Rt.17 you will pass a John Deere Tractor Dealer on the left (5 miles before camp) as well as an Agway store on the left, a True Value Hardware store on the left, and the Mic Mac convenience store andgas station on the right.

Turn left onto Alford Lake Road and then follow to camp on the left. 1 mile

(* If you should miss this turn, just continue on Rt.226 which will connect with Rt.17 and turn right for 25.4 miles to Alford Lake Rd.)


Picturesque Route

Maine Turnpike to Exit 9 at Falmouth.

Follow Route 1 North through Waldoboro.

After passing Moody’s Diner, turn left onto Rt.235. Go several miles, passing through Union until Rt.235 intersects with Rt.17.

Turn right onto Rte.17 East (toward Rockland).
From Mic Mac Market on right, go approx. 2.5 mi. (looking for ALC sign on right) and take left onto Alford Lake Road. ALC is about 1.5 mi. down this road on the left.

From Augusta

Take Rt.17 East (toward Rockland). You will pass John Deere dealership on left before Union.

Continue on Rt.17 into South Hope.
From Mic Mac Market on right, go approx. 2.5 mi. (looking for ALC sign on right) and take left onto Alford Lake Road. ALC is about 1.5 mi. down this road on the left.

From the North (and from Camden)

Take Route 1 south thru Camden.

Take right onto Rt.90,

Turn right onto Rt.17.

Go about 4 mi. on Rt.17, past Pushaw’s Trading Post. Watch for ALC sign on right.
Take right onto Alford Lake Road. ALC is about 1.5 mi. down this road on the left.

Alternate Route (faster, but trickier, cuts off Camden)

Take Rt.1 South to just beyond intersection with Rt.3 in Belfast area.

Take right onto Rt.52, go several miles.

Pick up Rt.235 and follow it (there will be turns!).

After a left turn at Hope Corners, go 2.9 mi. to Alford Lake Road on your left; (this road is almost hidden, so keep alert – it is at crest of incline).

Turn left onto Alford Lake Road and go 1.5 mi. Look for ALC’s sign over an old well on right that marks the driveway. [If you miss Alford Lake Road, you will come to Rte. 17 in E. Union. Take left onto Rte. 17 (East toward Rockland) and then left onto Alford Lake Road as described above.]

From Camp to Portland, Maine

From Alford Lake Road, turn right onto Rt.17. 24.4 miles

Go 24.4 miles until you see Crystal Falls sign on right.

Turn left onto Windsor Road, just past the sign. Go to stop sign at cross roads 3.1 miles with Sonny’s Auto Sales on right and at that intersection turn left on Rt.226.

Follow Rt.226 until intersecting with Rt.126. 2.8 miles (There you will see sign for I.95 and I.295.)

Turn left over bridge, staying in the middle lane; bear left at lights and go by 3.5 miles MacDonalds on your right. At the next intersection take a right just after passing the A1 Diner on the left. Continue following Rt.126 over smaller bridge until you see signs for I.95 on right and I.295 on left.
