COLORADO ADVENTURE
The ALC Colorado Adventure Trip is a new four-week adventure that gives campers the opportunity to explore the stunning alpine landscapes of Colorado. Starting near Denver, campers will acclimatize to the altitude while challenging themselves with hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and rafting.

They will then set off to backpack a section of the Colorado Trail, carrying all of their belongings on their backs. They will take in vistas from above 12,000’ as the route crosses the Continental Divide multiple times. Finally the group will leave the trail, spend a day celebrating the experience together in Denver, and then travel to ALC to rejoin the camp community for the traditional final days of camp.


The Colorado Adventure is a physically and mentally demanding trip. Campers live in a wilderness setting - away from running water and electricity. During the backpacking portion of they will average 9 miles and 1,700’ elevation gain per day while carrying a pack weighing approximately 45lbs.

Throughout the trip, campers practice leadership skills; learn to act with confidence and competence; respect and collaborate with others; learn to care for themselves and others; understand their habits, strengths and areas for growth; function under difficult circumstances; make informed and thoughtful decisions; communicate effectively and manage conflict; and appreciate living simply.
