Goals and Outcomes.
During each camper’s time with us, we seek to serve as an extension of each family’s priorities. We believe strongly in the immeasurable value of nurturing each camper’s positive self-esteem and self-image in a world that too often challenges these traits. ALC is a place that teaches girls what it takes to be happy, healthy, and productive individuals.
We aim to give campers the opportunity to strengthen their self-awareness. In our beautiful natural setting, our goal is for campers to gain courage to try new things, persevere through both physical and emotional challenges, create happy memories and develop true friendships, all while living in and contributing to a respectful, kind community. Campers develop friendships face-to-face, live simply, and have lots of fun along the way.
We know that it takes many ingredients for our children to become productive and self-confident individuals. Playing on a sports team, acting in a school theater production, and academic success all play a role. But an ALC experience can be a transformative place to prepare our children to care for themselves in an equally important way – in just a few weeks, they learn about who they are or who they want to be, how they can make healthy decisions, and learn to use their voices in an emotionally safe place before they have to cope with making huge decisions in their everyday lives.
We see the results in the generations of strong alumnae who gained confidence and leadership skills through their Alford Lake Camp experience. We know that their time at ALC cemented these values and prepared them to make a difference in our world.
After each summer at Alford Lake, campers leave camp with skills in activities, more confidence, the stamina to live a healthy lifestyle, and the ability to work cooperatively with others. They have the strength to overcome challenges and fears, have developed meaningful friendships, and carry memories of a fun-filled summer spent outdoors.
