At Alford Lake Camp, your privacy is very important to us. We are committed to providing families with an excellent camp experience while protecting your privacy and safeguarding any personal information that is shared with us.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

Alford Lake Camp, Inc. controls and centralizes the collection and distribution of information. When we transfer personal information to a third party for processing (i.e., the CampMinder data management system), we protect that information by way of a contract or by other means.

WHY DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION

We collect information about your camper and family so that we can provide the best and safest experience for your child at Alford Lake Camp. Personal information allows us to ensure the safety and welfare of the children in our care.

We use personal information to share updates with our families and clients about news and other Alford Lake Camp events. We also use personal information for business analysis, and to provide statements of account to families when requested to do so.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT?

Alford Lake Camp, Inc. collects information that is only voluntarily submitted by visitors to the Alford Lake Camp website. The information we gather may include the following contact information: names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, etc.

 

This information may be gathered when visitors choose to:

  • Request information about our summer camp program.

  • Complete an Alford Lake Camp online enrollment. In addition to the information requested above, we may also request the following with an application: enrolling camper’s name, date of birth, age, year in school, school, etc.

  • Pay enrollment deposits, camp tuition, or make a donation to the Alford Lake Camp Scholarship Fund online by using a credit card. The credit card information obtained by Alford Lake Camp, Inc. includes:

Name and address of purchaser, and typical credit card information that is required for processing by a third party credit card processor. Alford Lake Camp, Inc. does not save any credit card information.

  • Request to receive Alford Lake Camp electronic or printed publications, including, but not limited to:

Summer newsletters, Alumni magazine and newsletters, Promotional Materials, Other Alford Lake Camp publications

  • Request information about our Scholarship Program/Financial Aid.

  • Request information about donating to our Scholarship Program.

  • Share custody information that is important for a camper’s safety and welfare.

  • Complete health care paperwork for an enrolled camper. This allows us to take good care of each camper.

 

HOW DOES ALFORD LAKE USE THE COLLECTED INFORMATION?

Alford Lake Camp, Inc. uses the information collected for its own purposes and does not share any personal identifying information with third parties.  Personal credit card information is used only for the purpose of processes transactions and is not retained by Alford Lake Camp, Inc.

USE, DISCLOSURE, AND RETENTION OF INFORMATION 

Alford Lake Camp only uses and discloses the personal information in order to fulfill the identified purposes except when required by law. Only those staff members whose job functions or responsibilities require personal information have access to that information.

  • Alford Lake Camp does not sell, lease, or barter personal information.

  • Alford Lake Camp retains personal information as long as needed to fulfill the identified purposes or as required by law, whichever is longer.

  • When the information is no longer required, Alford Lake Camp uses proper and reasonable methods of destroying information.

 

TRANSACTION SECURITY

Alford Lake Camp, Inc. uses the appropriate Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security with 128 bit encryption to process all credit card transactions, and does not retain any personal credit card information.

 

MINORS

Alford Lake Camp is a camp for children ages 8-17.  Alford Lake Camp does not knowingly allow children under the age of 13 to provide self-identifying information online. Children should always request permission from parents prior to using the internet.

 

KEEPING YOUR INFORMATION ACCURATE

It is important to us that your personal information is accurate and complete. Having accurate information about your camper and family allows us to provide the very best camp experience. You have the right to access, verify and amend the information Alford Lake Camp has about your family. We ask that you keep us informed of any changes, including changes of address, phone number, email address, the health of your child or anything else – simply contact our camp office at (207)785-2400 to let us know about any changes.

 

KEEPING YOUR INFORMATION SAFE

We use physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect our systems and all personal information under our control against unauthorized access and use. All safety and security measures are appropriate to the sensitivity level of the information collected.

All Alford Lake Camp staff members receive training that reviews our protocols and expectations around the use and protection of personal information.

 

CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

If we decide to change any part of our Privacy Policy we will post those changes on our website and in any other place we deem appropriate.

 

YOUR RIGHT TO ACCESS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You have a right to access your personal information that we have in our possession. On written request to the Director of Communications, a family is informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their personal information that is under our control, and may be given access to that personal information as required and permitted by law.

You may question the accuracy and completeness of that personal information and request that it be amended, if appropriate.
